THE BASICS · DAY 001 / LESSON 1

What is a pre-engineered metal building?

MBMA identifies primary frames, secondary framing, cladding, and bracing as a coordinated building system. [1][2]

Modern systems are custom engineered for the ordered project; the term PEMB does not mean one design suits every site.

Worked calculation

For a 30 ft × 40 ft rectangular footprint, plan area is 1,200 sq ft. That number describes area, not structural capacity or a complete project price.

Start by separating the definition from the dimensions or requirements on a specific project. The reference below provides a concrete fact, its limits, and a practical example.
